Joshua Goldstein L.Ac.
I received my training from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Manhattan, where I earned my Master’s Degree in Oriental Medicine and Bachelor of Science. I am licensed in New Jersey and New York. I also hold a Diplomate in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Prior to receiving my Master’s degree, I earned my undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Secondary Education from the Queen’s College of New York. I have been a student and a practitioner of Oriental medicine for the past 24 years. For several years prior to practicing acupuncture, I studied and practiced shiatsu massage.
What prompted my interest in Asian healing methods started subtly as far back as the end of my high school years. I started reading about and eating macrobiotically to help support my mom who started to eat this way in attempts to become healthier. She was diagnosed with uterine cancer a year later. I learned about this particular Eastern dietary system along with mind-body techniques and shiatsu which she used in attempts to fight her cancer. These early impressions of her struggle left me wanting to help others with Eastern healing methods.
Later on in life, during my college years, I suffered from chronic fatigue and was constantly coming up with no help from doctors. Even visiting the Mayo Clinic yielded no help. This difficulty taught me the value of health and maintaining health. Suddenly, when I was taking more pre-reqs for a study in occupational therapy, I found a program in Chinese Medicine which ignited my interest and prompted me to study it. Looking back, I can say the seeds of my course of study were planted well before I even thought of getting involved in Chinese Medicine. The difficult struggles of my mother and my private search for help for my problems have taught me to listen to people’s condition. Whether you just want pain relief or you want more energy, your concern becomes my concern.

My purpose is to help as many people as I can, healthy or not, by improving the quality of their lives. In Chinese medicine, there is an emphasis on addressing the underlying cause(s) of disease. It is in this spirit that I practice, motivating people to make shifts in their thinking as well as shifts in their bodies so they can make lasting positive changes in their health and their lives.

Listen In
A charming reunion of friends remembering their youth like it was yesterday. Dr. Eileen Yue Ling Han and Dr. Joshua Goldstein laughing together is what makes the Balance Method Community a true community.
“Joshua Goldstein is a magical wizard that has put the time and effort into helping me with all of my pregnancy ailments. He knew about my problems through a muscle test before I had a chance to explain them to him. He takes the time every visit to properly give each area and problem the attention it needs. I originally went to him for back pain; he has not only helped that, but also my congestion, anxiety, digestion, and hip pain. I can't thank or recommend him more!!”

“My wife and I have seen Joshua for five years. During that time, we have found Joshua to be incredibly knowledgeable, intuitive, and extremely professional. He begins each session by asking for updates on our current situation health-wise, sleep-wise, mood-wise, etc. He then takes that information and determines where he should insert the needles to best improve how we are feeling. The results are truly amazing. We highly recommend Joshua for his knowledge, his professionalism and his caring nature.”
