Use a temperature chart to track your fertility: If your blood work is fine,  yet you still can't become pregnant, consider using a temperature chart. Blood work on day 3 and day 25, shows a static picture of the hormones. However, hormonal fluctuations do occur throughout the cycle, similar to the ebb and flow of the tide in the ocean. These small hormonal fluctuations can reveal SIGNIFICANT  information about the cycle that blood work cannot. To understand this better, if you were to watch a movie and were only given frame 3 or frame 25 to watch, you'd still miss out on the content of the whole movie. Similarly, if you only take blood work on day 3 or day 25 of  a woman's cycle, then you can miss significant problems preventing conception.  This is particularly important with the timing of ovulation, where the egg is released from the ovary. Nancy, was a teacher in middle school and she saw me because she could not get pregnant with a second child. After we monitored her daily temperatures of her cycle, to her surprise, we found that her ovulation was 8 days LATER than when it should have occurred. It took place a week late. She was missing her golden opportunity to become pregnant as a result of this finding. Once we discovered this, we worked to regulate her ovulation, creating it a week earlier, when it was supposed to occur. Five months later she was pregnant with a boy that she gave birth to this summer. This case highlights the importance of using the simple temperature charting method for following her cycle to see what is going on and what isn't!2.  Reduce your weight- even a little helps! Extremely lean or very obese women and men, can have trouble conceiving. In men, unhealthy body types can lead to poor semen quality. For ultra-lean women, the body is set into starvation mode and basically sends a signal to the reproductive system that it's not a good time to reproduce.woman on scale reaching idea weightObesity in women poorly affect insulin levels, which negatively affect ovulation. Aim for a body mass index, the standardized measure of the ration of height divided by weight, or between 24 and 30. Start by including more protein in your meals. Added protein helps your body manage blood sugar better. Eat those carbs, but make sure they are complex carbs not simple sugars like white rice, candy bars, cookies etc. Eating  your carbs at certain times is also important. As stress increases throughout the day, judicious intake of carbs with protein at lunch time and then at dinner time can reduce stress hormones and control insulin better, helping you to lose weight.

 2. Get acupuncture: Increase your "fertility ability" using acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. "Fertility ability" is the concept in Chinese medicine that you need to have adequate sexual energy to conceive and give birth to a child. Without ample supply of this energy, your "fertility ability" is affected. When everything is looking "normal" and yet, you cannot conceive, "fertility ability" may be the missing piece of the puzzle for women who are trying to become pregnant.
"Fertility ability" refers to how strong or optimal your hormonal system is working. Starting around 35 years old, a women's fertility starts to decline and not function as well. For some women this process happens faster and earlier than others. "Fertility ability"  declines and  weakened with the  effects of age, stress, and causes a loss of optimal function of the reproductive abilities of a woman. So by the time you are ready to become pregnant, you realize it is not as easy as you thought and it becomes quite scary!

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine have been enhancing the "fertility ability" of women for over 2000 years. Boosting reproductive hormones responsible for fostering a pregnancy, so that your weak and lagging fertility  picture changes and becomes more vital. For women who are struggling to make sense out of their situation, acupuncture and Chinese medicine can become THE "go to" treatment that can potentially help them conceive. If your blood work is "normal" or you are not getting the results with other fertility methods, this may be the way for you to explore.
Consider the following facts about acupuncture and Chinese medicine:woman relaxing with acupuncture needles

  •  Acupuncture and Chinese herbs have been helpful in optimizing ovulation.

Valarie, was a 35 year old female who suffered from infertility. She had tried one cycle of Clomid and underwent and IVF cycle. She produced 3 eggs in total and none of them were maturing fast enough to be used in the implantation part of the treatment. She stopped the procedure because her body was unable to produce enough viable eggs. She told me that it was always her dream to have a child and start her family. She felt so devastated that she abandoned the reproductive treatments she was doing. Feeling physically, emotionally, and financially drained, so the treatment was terminated.
She shared with me that she had such a sense of relief after finding out about her success. She had shared with me that she was looking forward to having a child since a very young age, and this gave her such great happiness.  She finally felt that she could let go of this pain! Additionally, her husband admitted to her, that he was very skeptical of the acupuncture and that he also felt angry at himself for somehow causing this situation, even though he knew that this was not the case. He now felt as if a weight had lifted off his shoulders and he realized that this had nothing to do with him directly. He felt more happy and didn't feel the need to beat himself up. He felt more acceptance to himself and his partner.
She underwent several months of acupuncture and used herbs to help her  body restore itself, so it had enough ability to create stronger more viable eggs. When she underwent the next procedure which occurred after the summer months, she was surprised to see that she not only produced 17 eggs, she was able to use 8 of them for the implantation procedure! She was able to fulfill her dream and in the months of our treatment together. She also regained energy, had better sleep, and didn't feel as cold in her hands and legs as she used to. These were also great indicators that her "fertility ability" had returned!
