  • Expect to spend time going over your condition in detail, outlining the symptoms and the effects the symptoms are having on your life, so we can start with a benchmark from which we can measure your progress if you choose to work with us.

We then ask you questions about your general health to see how that can be impacting on your condition. to get you to your “whole health” picture. I am looking for trends and conditions that can be perpetuating your condition. We call this looking for a “pattern of disharmony.”

  • After the consultation, I dive into the evaluation portion using orthopedic testing to pinpoint the neurologic condition.

In Chinese medicine, you look at the state of the blood flow as well as Chinese medicine pulse, tongue, ear, evaluation to find out how your problem is affecting your body internally. Using this information can give you clear guidance as to what you will need to do to get better and how we will achieve that.

How does it work?

Acupuncture works to enhance the blood flow to muscles, joints, and organs of the body. The blood contains your anti-inflammatories and pain relieving substances to help reduce pain and increase range of motion.

Acupuncture releases endorphins and pain killers, can create new tissue, will reduce swelling in your nerves, relaxes smooth muscles to reduce spastic, achy tight, and tired muscles, relaxes the nervous system, and boosts immunity.

Acupuncture recruits stem cells to work on your pain, immunity, and general health, and stimulates collagen growth in ragtag joints and muscles.

Acupuncture is for you if you are looking for a drug-free, non-surgical method of reducing your pain and helping you stay loose and relaxed. It helps regulate moods, boost feel-good hormones, and helps promote relaxation, reduce depression, and anxiety.

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine work on the premise that keeping blood flow highly oxygenated throughout the body in the organs of the body, in the joints and muscles and tendons of the body, can repair conditions and reduce the wear and tear of living on your body.

Acupuncture works to increase blood flow at very high levels. Highly oxygenated blood works against inflammation. Chinese herbs also treat the inflammation, the weakness, and the sluggish blood that causes you to age quicker and not function optimally. This is beyond what most doctors expect for their patient’s health.

Instead of just measuring how sick you are, Chinese medicine can establish a baseline for how “healthy” your body is or isn’t and measure your health according to how HEALTHY your body can become. If the only way you measure your health is the absence of disease, then you are not functioning to your highest potential of health.

  • "Joshua Goldstein is a magical wizard that has put the time and effort into helping me with all of my pregnancy ailments. He knew about my problems through a muscle test before I had a chance to them explain to him. He takes the time every visit to properly give each area and problem the attention it needs. I originally went to him for back pain, he not only has helped that, but also my congestion, anxiety, digestion, and hip pain. I can't thank or recommend him more!!"

What can I expect?

  • Write down your health problems, medications, existing conditions and treatments you've tried and the challenges you have been facing.

Additionally, you will fill out an extensive health questionnaire to understand your body’s day-to-day health.

  • An initial evaluation is taking into account your specific health needs and goals to uncover what is really occurring. For pain-related conditions, I check your posture, range of motions, tight and tender muscles, and orthopedic testing to figure out what the cause of the problem is coming from. If it is related to other conditions, like moods, hormones, energy, digestion, or sleep etc., I will use classic tests in Chinese medicine to determine which organ is affected and causing your problem.

This includes Chinese pulse diagnosis, tongue examination, ear, and face examination as well as feeling for cold or warm areas on key areas of your body. Using these non-invasive methods, I will glean from your body what the problem is once I do that, I can determine which organ system is not getting enough blood flow. We use these tests to "read'' your body and tell us where your deficiencies lie by telling us where your blood flow circulation is poor and non-optimal. We look to see how this implicates your current symptoms.

  • We will define your “functional goals” or what you want to do if you could get the most of your treatments. Additionally, we will come up with a strategic plan to attain the results you are looking for, including applicable recommendations for your lifestyle, stretches, supplements, and herbal support, depending on your goals and conditions. We then get busy on making you better with a treatment plan

  • I have moved insurmountable pain from severe to less severe to absent. This requires enough cumulative treatment to get the nerves and muscles to quiet down and reduce it and then eliminate it. Initially, for severe pain or chronic pain expect to treat 2 to 3 times a week until the pain is reduced to 70%-80% better. Then to squeeze the body in reducing the pain further, we reduce treatment to once a week to get the pain down to 90%. Cure is considered better when the pain is gone for two weeks with no major aggravation. People’s rate of response varies and so we can make estimates of care based upon your rate of response after the first or second visit.

For chronic conditions, we may treat twice weekly to gain the healing momentum going and then pair down the treatment as your symptoms get better. Additionally, recommendations may be suggested to speed up your results and get you better faster. Each condition is different and requires a tailor-made treatment plan.
